Foreign interests would still have a stranglehold on China, the vast majority of the people would be living in poverty, income disparity would be on par with some of the worst, and the haves would be treating the people like $hit. Plus the government would be so openly corrupt that they could quiet possibly be worse then the Philippines is today.





That was the reason that Mao finally won.





The wests treatment of the Chinese resulted in three wars, the first and second Opium Wars, addiction of 90% of the males under 40 to opium in the coastal regions and the Boxer Rebellion of 1900. An example of some of that treatment, the west forced them to open up their country, to exempting foreigners from Chinese laws, to bankrupting their nation due to war reparations and taxes thus draining their treasury, to affectively reducing the power of the dynasty rule that it eventually failed. They even forbid Chinese officials from calling foreign officials as Ye, or barbarian.





Could you really blame Mao for closing the door on foreigners for almost almost 25 years following the defeat of the ROC?





No, China would not be anything close to the US based on your assertion. But today, China is moving in that direction in more ways then most in the west can imagine.

China would be a democratic nation like Taiwan and Tiawan would be a backwater province.
No it is too regionalized with too many special interest groups. Taiwan did what they had to do because they have a fraction of the population. China has been a seperatist country for many years and they woul still be backwards but not quite as bad as the Middle East.


Their culture would not let it happen.
